The University of Waterloo Gauss Math Contest for grades 7 and 8, is Monday, May 11th. This contest is going to be written on paper, during the school day. Please see the link at the bottom to access previous contests. If your child is interested in taking part, please have them give their name to their math teacher by Friday, April 10th.
Contest Setup
- 25 multiple-choice questions
- 60 minutes
- Score out of 150
- Written at school, participants write individually on paper or online
- Basic calculators permitted
Questions are based on curriculum common to all Canadian provinces. The last few questions are designed to test ingenuity and insight. Rather than testing content, most of the contest problems test logical thinking and mathematical problem-solving.
You can view past contests here if you would like to give students access to them to practice.
