Rocky Lake Junior High

Week at a Glance June 10 - 14, 2019

Yearbooks will be delivered the week of June 17th.  We will keep you updated on a final date.

Our school website calendar is updated daily with any events or activities being held at the school.  Please make sure to check this regularly for updates between week at a glance issues.

The last day of school is Friday, June 28th.  Report cards will be handed out at that time. If your student is unable to pick up their report card please send a self-addressed stamped envelope (2 stamps) to the office and it will be mailed home.  We are unable to send report cards home with friends or family members or give them out early.

At this time all bus students should be signed up for BusPlanner through Stock Transportation.  This will give you access to emails if there are any bus changes (late buses, change of bus number, etc).  This will also allow you to look at bus times for the fall when they are updated. To register for bus planner you need your student’s provincial number which is available on report cards (310….) or by contacting the school.  Please sign up at  All instructions are also available under transportation on the HRCE website.

It is the time of the year that we need to prepare for next year.  It is very important for students to be able to access their powerschool at the beginning of September to be able to access their classes and schedule.  We are unable to give out these passwords during the first two weeks of September due to work volume.  We ask that you make sure both you and your student are able to log in to powerschool successfully even if you have your passwords please make sure you log in and are able to access the information.  If you do not have this information please make sure to contact the office (902) 832-8952 ext 0 to have your powerschool passwords sent to you prior to school closing at the end of June.

If you know your student will not be returning to school at RLJH in September 2019 we ask that you contact the office to let the office know for scheduling purposes.

School Clubs and Activities:

To further promote and foster the love of reading and summer reading with our students, we are holding a “Rocky Lake Book Swap” for grade 7 & 8 students.

The process is EASY!

Monday, June 10th to Friday, June 21st students can drop off pre-loved (good condition) age appropriate books to their ELA teachers (graphic novels, novels, and nonfiction books will be accepted!) ELA teachers will make a note of how many books each student has brought in.

On the day of the Swap, students will receive their Book Swap tickets. Students will receive a TICKET for a donated book. MAXIMUM of 5 tickets per student– though you can bring in as many books as you wish.

1 book donation = 1 Ticket

2 book donations = 2 Tickets

5+ book donations = 5 Tickets

Friday, June 21st is Book Swap Day - Classes will come to exchange their tickets for books.

No money will be exchanged for the Book Swap. This is strictly a book recycling activity.

We hope to see your child at the Book Swap!

Tickets are available in the main office between 9-3 pm and also at the door on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday evening starting at 6:30pm.  Shows start at 7:00PM.
